APM TerminalAPM Terminals Apapa has announced a one-year roadmap to decarbonize its power operations in pursuit of its global net‑zero by 2040 commitment. In the first phase, two new 4 MW compressed natural gas (CNG) generators are already being commissioned, replacing diesel to power reefer plugs, buildings, and lighting, aligning with Nigeria’s gas-driven energy strategy. Over the next 6–12 months, on‑site solar installations and battery systems are planned to displace up to 30% of consumption and enhance self-generation. The terminal aims to fully electrify equipment and rely solely on renewable electricity, working with stakeholders such as the NPA, TCN, distribution companies, and renewable developers to bolster critical infrastructure and supportive policies.
