Officials in Nigeria are urging the rapid implementation of climate-smart, energy-resilient policies and investments to strengthen the country’s health system and infrastructure amid mounting challenges from climate change. Speaking at a legislative round table in Abuja, World Health Organization (WHO) Representative Pavel Ursu emphasized that climate change deepens health inequalities, strains infrastructure and worsens disease burdens, making investment in resilient healthcare both a moral and economic imperative. He stressed the necessity of sustainable financing mechanisms, stronger legislative accountability and institutional partnerships to enable resilient development.
