Post Harvest LossesAccording to Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, Nigeria loses an estimated $10 billion annually to post-harvest losses. Speaking at the inauguration of the Green Legacy Rural Community Agriculture and Infrastructure Network (G.R.A.I.N) Pulse Centre in Jigawa, he stated that the losses are caused by poor storage, weak infrastructure, limited processing, and climate change. He added that the federal government is committed to prioritizing agriculture to unlock the nation’s full wealth and that private sector-driven initiatives are vital in strengthening the food systems.

The G.R.A.I.N project, which is a public-private partnership, is an integrated hub designed to provide modern facilities and technology to boost food production and reduce waste.
