Kumming BiodiversityThe Kunming Biodiversity Fund (KBF) has endorsed its first set of 22 full-size projects, which will span 34 countries across all regions and support diverse ecosystems in accelerating action under the Kunming‑Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF). The Fund, launched in mid-2024 in partnership with United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and backed by China’s initial contribution of 1.5 billion yuan, is designed to enable developing countries to strengthen biodiversity policies, build institutional capacity, and mobilize additional resources with a whole-of-society approach. This endorsement marks a significant step toward operationalizing the KMGBF and reversing the accelerating global decline of biodiversity.
