upland and floodThe Ogun State Government has issued a flood alert, urging residents in riverine and coastal communities to relocate to higher ground between late September and mid-October. The warning, part of the 2025 Midterm Flood Alert, was given by Dr. Ola Oresanya, the Commissioner for Environment. The flooding is anticipated to impact communities along various rivers and coastal areas due to a combination of factors, including river overflow, heavy rainfall, rising sea levels, and potential water releases from the Oyan Dam. In response, the State Emergency Management Agency has been placed on red alert, and the government is coordinating with the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority.

Additionally, residents are advised to avoid contaminated water sources and fish farmers are encouraged to harvest their stock immediately to prevent financial losses.
