A recent study highlights that extreme flooding events in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, are becoming increasingly frequent, now expected to occur approximately every two years. This uptick in flooding frequency is attributed to climate change, which is intensifying rainfall patterns in the region.

The most recent floods have resulted in significant loss of life and damage to infrastructure, underscoring the urgent need for adaptive measures to mitigate the impacts of such climate-induced disasters.
