heatwaveA recent study by the World Weather Attribution (WWA) group has revealed that an extraordinary heatwave across Central Asia in March 2025 was significantly intensified by human-induced climate change. Between March 18 and 22, temperatures soared up to 15 degrees Celsius above average in countries including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

The WWA’s analysis indicates that climate change increased the severity of this heatwave by nearly 50% and made such extreme events approximately three times more likely.
