Green Areas Protest in Zone 6AbujaResidents of Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, are protesting the conversion of designated green spaces into housing estates and commercial facilities, calling it a serious threat to environmental health, infrastructure, and community well-being. They argue that Abuja’s Master Plan reserves these green areas not only for recreation, but also to protect underground utilities such as sewage and water pipelines. They warn that defiance of planning regulations has resulted in issues like flooding, blocked sewer lines, water contamination, and deteriorating air quality in the area.

The residents are appealing to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), its Development Control Authority, the FCT Minister, and President Bola Tinubu to intervene and enforce preservation of green zones.
