Heaps of garbage now choke major roads across Abuja, as both residents and informal waste collectors (“Baba Boola”) dump refuse indiscriminately, creating traffic snarls and health hazards. For instance, in Kurudu area of the AMAC, the pile of refuse causes major traffic congestion every time on the road, especially during working hours. Residents say the mounting dirt slows commuting, while a few task-force efforts to clear the waste have been deployed.
