Tackling Food insecurityNigeria’s 36 state governors have committed to addressing food security challenges by collaborating with the federal government to harmonize levies, dismantle illegal checkpoints, and facilitate the free movement of goods across states. This decision followed a meeting with National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and key ministers, who identified widespread checkpoints, unlawful taxation, and poor infrastructure as primary drivers of food price inflation and supply chain disruptions. The governors, under the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) chaired by Kwara’s AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, acknowledged the urgency of these issues and pledged coordinated efforts to streamline transportation costs and enhance goods flow, as emphasized in a communiqué delivered by Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
