The World Bank has approved the Eswatini Youth Employment Opportunities Project (EYEOP) to address the country’s high youth unemployment. This initiative is the first in Eswatini to receive funding from the International Development Association (IDA) following the nation’s transition to an IDA/IBRD blended status. The project aims to increase income-earning opportunities for targeted youth, particularly young women, who face higher unemployment rates.

EYEOP focuses on creating sustainable livelihoods through economic inclusion support, building youth capacity for self-employment and entrepreneurship along the agriculture value chain, with an emphasis on climate-smart practices. The project also plans to provide small-scale grants to foster entrepreneurship, potentially involving small-scale sub-projects

This initiative is part of Eswatini’s broader efforts to tackle youth unemployment and promote inclusive economic growth.
